In November 1976, CIQA opened its research center in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico as a
decentralized public organization. It was created at the descretion of the President and is one of 27 technology centers in the CONACYT
system. It was initially organized for the purpose of basic and applied research on uses for northern Mexico´s natural resources and, in the mid-80´s, reorganized with a focus on plastics and polymers.
August 30, 2000, CIQA was again reorganized with a focus on solving national problems such as the short supply of highly trained scientists. At this time CIQA contributes to the formation of scientists
at the Bachelors, Masters, Doctorate, and Postgraduate levels.
CIQA Combines academic training and industrial experience for the benefit of its people. They have a modern infrastructure that permits them to offer advanced technology services
to the chemical and plastics industries. CIQA´s services are in the areas of polymer chemistry, polymer processing,
polymer transformation processing, advanced materials and agricultual plastics.
